Water retaining in the tub causes staining damage from water not draining completely and over the years the non-draining water causes erosion and eventually can rust through. Should you hire a bathtub refinisher who doesn’t address the issue, you’ll end up with the same problem in short order.
It’s very difficult to repair this by eye using fillers. What I recommend is adding water to map out the low area till the water meets the drain.
This tub was out of level & retaining water all the way to the back.
Then we apply Polyester filler to the outer edge and sand smooth, once completed our TubPotion #9 non-slip can be applied to cover the repair, plus you’ll get the added advantage of a safe and secure feeling when getting in and out of the tub.

So when the self-leveling TubPotion #6 was added it would be a little higher in the back than the front of the tub so it would now drain.

Once everything was sanded smooth and the drain area re-created. The tub was ready for a final high build primer application.
TubPotion #6 poured & hardened. Then polyester filler applied to create the proper contour.
With all the repair work it took a couple of applications of high build primer to smooth everything out just right. Once the final sanding was complete the baby tub was ready for refinishing using our TubPotion Coatings.
