When using Porcelain Tub Restorations You’ll Get The Best Bathtub Refinishing Company In Customer Service – Best Preparations – Best Coating System – Best Trained Refinisher Along With The Best Guarantee In The Business Hands Down.
Why We Are The Best Bathtub Refinishing Company… We don’t “JUST” paint your damaged bath or kitchen fixtures as others do?… We do more of an restoration, using a time-tested & proven ‘PROCESS’ versus thou’s that just ‘Paint’ your tub? Compare below TubPotion process & coatings.
Here I’ll Go Over Our Process & Coatings. Bathtub & tile refinishers and coatings are not created equal. We don’t provide a single price cookie cutter paint jobs. Each project we perform has unique & special circumstances that must be addressed.
Protective Top Coat: These come in many flavors Epoxy – acrylic urethane – polyurethane – polyester polyurethane. In this ‘VIDEO’ I prove beyond doubt the protective and aesthetic power of TubPotion Hybyrd Polyester/Polyurethane coating system.
The process of using Etching – Silane – Polyester Bonding Primer provides “triple adhesion” plus Polyester Polyurethane chemically harden coating system has no equal.
See The Undisputed Proof On TubPotion High Performance Coatings In This Short Video. Here You’ll See The Results That You’ll Get When Choosing The TubPotion Process & Coatings.
How to get the best performance, adhesion and aesthetics when refinishing your bathtub or tile.
EXCLUSIVE Hydrophobic Additive: This water-hating additive creates a Teflon-like surface built into our TubPotion coatings. Water is actually repelled from the surface helping to keep your tub or tile sparkling clean.
Hardware & Caulk Removal: Not all bathroom refinishers will remove your caulking or even the overflow during refinishing? Some will just coat right over it.
Old caulking absolutely should be removed and the overflow plate when possible (some are threaded on & can’t be removed due to being seized). Escutcheons on tile walls and tub drain removal makes for a better-looking and longer-lasting job by having the coating sealed under the hardware.

Removal Of A Failed Refinishing: Next is a critical factor that few refinishers will do?
Should you have a previously refinished tub or tile that is failing it should be chemically stripped off to the original surface. Why?… Would you put a new roof on your home over rotten wood? Of course not, I hope? Most refinishers will simply sand around the failed area and apply their coating over the remainder of the failed coating.
This is a cheap shortcut that we will not do. Always be sure they remove all of the failed coatings.
Why don’t all refinishers strip off the failed coating? They quoted you a low ball price, and chemical stripper is expensive and adds one or more hours to the job. The discount refinishers are looking for all the shortcuts they can. Plus, using a chemical stripper requires additional safety and protective equipment.
Etching The Surface: Why don’t refinishers etch the surface? Etching provides mechanic adhesion allowing the coating a place to “Grip on too” porcelain & enameled tubs cannot be etched by sanding as acrylic and fiberglass tubs can. An acid solution must be used and care is taken to avoid damaging surrounding areas.
Not etching is again one of the shortcuts they take. When asked about this they’ll use anti-logic to convince you their doing you a favor. Etching cleans and creates a bonding surface, critical for lasting performance. Even big franchises like Miracle Method short the process. In this video I prove the point beyond doubt.
Why would we go to the trouble, expense and training if HF Acid did not provide a benefit to you?
If they do fill the chips many use cheap Bondo filler instead of marine grade polyester, which is completely waterproof…
Why don’t they Cost More?… cheap price means cheap materials every time.
Your bathroom will be coated and damaged by this practice.
Another issue is improper ventilation or none at all?
Ventilation equipment pulls the chemical odors out from the bathroom and exhausts them outside.
Some use a box fan not rated of flammable exhausting. Others use inadequate small units which don’t provide enough power.
I recommend the 3000 Cubic foot per minute ventilation and always recommend exhausting to a window away from the bathroom.
High-quality Silane can be applied before the coating or even added to the coating to help form a permanent bond.
Again often not used… Why? Again cost… cheap price = cheap job.
I recommend polyester bonding primer over the usual treatment of epoxy primer which is most often used as it is very low cost compared to polyester.
With Etching – Silane – Primer, you get what I affectionately call “Triple Adhesion” for truly long-lasting performance.
Best Bathtub Refinishing Company Different Bath Tub Refinishing Coatings Cure Between 4 And 48 Hours… Why?
TubPotion #10 Our Aliphatic (non-yellowing) high-performance polyester catalyst. Creates a chemical reaction in our bathtub refinishing coatings, allowing them to achieve full cure in just 24 hours.
Which is the perfect balance in, set time. for you and the coating in convenience and durability.
*Beware of bathtub refinishers touting 4 to 12-hour cure, they’re using an accelerator in the polyurethane that makes the coatings brittle and chip easily and which I don’t recommend.
The 48-hour cure is an epoxy that is slow to set up. Yellow with time and tend to be easily damaged. Nor do they provide the texture-free porcelain look of TubPotion polyester coatings.
Coatings Are Rated For Different Applications Such As:
- Immersion coatings for constant water contact – not concerned with aesthetics or gloss.
- Graffiti coatings provides a Teflon like surface, preventing graffiti from sticking.
- Marine coatings which are geared toward salt, UV exposure and weather conditions.
- Automotive coatings geared for good looks & reasonable durability.
- Industrial coatings for equipment rated for high durability over looks.
- Friction coats rated for high abrasion resistance and strength.
After Working With Coatings Engineers… I was able to develop a polyester polyurethane hybrid tub – tile – countertop coating system that gave us the best of all worlds –
- Teflon like additive repels water, makes our coating non-stick graffiti proof.
- Capable of handling water immersion without peeling.
- Weather UV resistant so it won’t yellow over time.
- Extreme durability for years of lasting use.
- High friction & scratch resistance, holds up to your family use.
- All while providing flat as glass good looks and high gloss.
- Hygienic sanitary non-porous surface which is easily cleaned.
The closest a coating could possibly come to the look and feel of real porcelain. Convenient 24-hour cure-back online service.
From E-How.com Excerpt on Polyester vs. Polyurethane.
Polyester Polyurethane (What we use.)
• Polyester polyurethane is considered to provide optimal protection over polyurethane because… it is highly stain-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and chemical-resistant. Best results are achieved when applied by professional spray equipment. Polyester develops 95% of its full properties in 24 hours.
Common applications for Polyester polyurethane coatings are used when optimal protection is required for industrial applications, airplanes, boats, floors, and porcelain tub & tile refinishing.
What Does This Mean For You?… IMHO TubPotion System – Process – Coatings Are The Optimal Choice For Your Bathtub Refinishing Project, Bar None.
- TubPotion # 7 & 9 Anti-Slip Solutions easy to clean, provides a safe and secure feeling without sharp grit.
- TubPotion # 8 Silane Adhesion Promoter, literally superglue for coatings.
- TubPotion # 11 Polyester Bonding Primer The Third level Of Adhesion.
- TubPotion # 12 Polyester Polyurethane Hybrid Protective Top Coat. For The Look & Feel Of Porcelain.
Unlike other refinishing contractors, ours does not use any sharp grit and is included at no extra charge. TubPotion coatings lay down like glass so I believe in providing a safe product and environment to our inner circle clients.
Plus the A.D.A. (Americans with Disabilities Act) mandates since 1990 that all bathtubs have this feature. Should you consider having us install safety grab bars as well?
Some folks don’t get it? By asking us NOT to add this valuable service, they seem to think it will make the tub hard to clean. Which is not the case at all. I have it in my own tub and wouldn’t consider not using it.
Gives you the performance of silicon but is completely paint-able. This is important should you wish to paint up against the caulk as silicone is not paint-able. And acrylic latex caulk shrinks as it dry’s and can crack as well yellow over time. GE 7000 is slightly off white which we cannot control.
There are many considerations you need to be aware of when getting your tub and tile refinished and we highly recommend a FREE in-home estimate. Where we can go over in detail the many options available to you.

What other refinishing contractor “DARES” to provide this level of performance and service?
Training: Hi I’m Paul Burns, as an ASE (Automotive Society of Excellence) Certified Refinisher from my car painting days, starting in 1983, I understand the importance of providing proper chemical handling, surface preparation and coating chemistry.
I pass this on to my refinishing team. I have yet to hire another refinisher from any other company that didn’t require complete re-training.
Pricing: So if you’ve wondered why you see such wide pricing in refinishing contractors, some as low as $299 now you know why… Cheap pricing = poor customer service, cheap materials, shortcuts on preparation, poorly applied coatings, UN-trained refinishers, and worthless guarantees, where they will blame you when the job fails.
